Are you planning a family trip to Hanoi? We know that traveling with kids can come with many questions: Is it safe? Will my kids like the food? How can I keep them entertained? That’s why we created Taste of Hanoi, a walking street food tour designed to make exploring Hanoi’s vibrant culture fun, easy, and exciting for the whole family. Here’s why you’ll love it just as much as your kids!

1. It’s an Adventure Kids Will Love!
The Old Quarter of Hanoi is an absolute treasure trove of sights and stories! You'll find ancient houses, temples, pagodas and food stalls around every corner. We know that kids (and parents!) want something exciting, not just a boring history lesson that you and your kids will forget after a few minutes. So, our tour takes you on an adventure, with every story linked to a delicious dish or a cool place where we eat. It's like stepping into a living history book, where every stop is designed to keep your family entertained and engaged!

2. Frequent, Kid-Friendly Stops
Our tour is 3 - 3.5 hours walking, which may seem like a lot for little legs. But not to worry, we have carefully designed everything to be family friendly. We will never go too far at a time, the longest walk is less than l0 minutes and the shortest is less than l minute!

Along the way we'll visit 7-8 places, each with something new to taste or discover. We walk through lively streets. Your children can snack on the sidewalk, explore a bustling local market full of stalls run by the ladies and grandmothers who have been cooking here for years, and even sit in a traditional house decorated with beautiful Vietnamese touches and sometimes a cafe in a hidden alley. Each stop is something new to keep everyone happy and moving.
3. Options for Every Taste
We know kids can be pussy so we have prepared options for everyone. From a hot bowl of noodles to a tasty BBQ pork skewer and the sweet fried glutinous rice balls (fried doughnut). Have any specific dietary needs, like gluten-free or vegan? No problem! Just let us know, and we’ll take care of it so everyone can enjoy the authentic flavours without worry. So you can come hungry and leave with a full belly of food and happy, even the pickiest eaters will find something they love!

4. Connect with Friendly Locals
Our food tour is about more than food - it is about connecting with Hanoi's friendly locals who bring the culture to life. Your children will meet the cooks and local vendors who are friendly and eager to share their stories and explain the traditions behind each dish, like Mrs Mai, always smiling with us, who has been making many types of traditional food for years, continuing her family's tradition in a corner of the old quarter.

5. Sweet Treats to Keep Kids Smiling
We know a lot of kids have a sweet tooth (even adults like us), so we've handpicked some of our favourite sweet treats for our tour. We have found that everyone loves fried doughnuts, from the pickiest child to the 70's, no matter what age you are. Every sweet stop will put a smile on your kids' faces and they'll love discovering the different types of treats Hanoi has to offer.

6. Kid-Friendly Guides Who Keep It Fun
The soul of the tour, ambassadors of Hanoi - our guides are true foodies who are passionate about sharing Hanoi's rich food culture and love to hang out with kids! Many children come a little shy, but after a few minutes our friendly guides will find a way to connect with them and help them open up. They end up hugging our guide so tightly they don't want to say goodbye! Some of them write us a super sweet card, which they give to us behind their parents' backs.

7. Hands-On Cultural Experience
One of the best parts of our Hanoi street food tour is learning some local customs that will make you feel like a real Hanoian. Your kids (and you!) will get a fun lesson in how to use chopsticks and invite others to eat - an important part of eating in Vietnam. Don’t worry if it feels tricky at first; we’ll help you become pros in just a few minutes!

You'll also pick up some basic Vietnamese phrases along the way. Your children can learn how to cross the street (a real skill here!) and say "thank you" or "delicious" - always a hit with the friendly local vendors.
Little by little, these things will help you get closer to our culture and make your family trip around Hanoi unforgettable. Best of all, your children will grow up with memories that will last a lifetime.
