What’s the best way to explore Hanoi? For Caitlin’s family of eight from New Zealand, it wasn’t just about walking the streets — but living the city through flavors, crafts, culture, and shared moments together on our Hanoi Family Quest tour.
No trip to Hanoi is complete without food! Our family tried a variety of local Hanoi dishes, and they enjoyed every bite. One instant favorite? Definitely bánh rán (Vietnamese donuts). Peter couldn’t stop smiling, happily munching on not one, but four bánh rán, while the kids followed along with two each — just like true little foodies.
What made the experience truly special was how both kids and adults could take part in hands-on activities together, making it a perfect Hanoi family quest. From choosing handcrafted wooden stamps, lighting incense at Kim Ngân Communal House, to riding cyclos through the Old Quarter, every moment felt shared.
But the journey didn’t stop there. Painting bamboo dragonflies became the highlight of the day. Grandparents and little ones were fully immersed — coloring, laughing, and sharing stories. Peter even decorated his dragonfly with his grandchildren’s names, a small detail that turned into such a sweet, unforgettable moment.
