Sweet bites & big smiles with Sébastien’s family in Hanoi 💛

It was such a joy to host our lovely French family: Sébastien, Anaïs, Nathanaël and little Salomé for a fun walk through Hanoi’s streets. For Anaïs, returning after ten years, bringing her whole family this time made the experience even more special.

From the very first bite, our family was all in. Sébastien fell in love with “bánh rán” - Vietnamese donuts and “bánh gối” - fried pillow dumplings, amazed that there was a whole shop dedicated to these “street snacks.” At the “bún riêu” - river crab noodle soup stop, young Nathanaël impressed everyone with his chopstick skills. His mum smiled proudly, “He’s usually so picky, but in Vietnam, he eats everything!”

It wasn’t just about tasting Hanoi, our family truly lived it. Sébastien tried making his own “bánh cuốn” - steamed roll rice pancakes and burst out laughing when the first rice sheet broke apart, but he didn’t give up! It might not be the perfect dish, but definitely the best “bánh cuốn” that he made, with love and the joy of experiencing Vietnamese culture. The whole family cheered, and for a moment, the small corner shop felt like a warm little kitchen filled with laughter.

At the end of the day, Sebastien’s family had so much fun immersing themselves in the culture of Vietnam through “Ô ăn quan” - a traditional Vietnamese game, surrounded by antique furniture and the gentle scent of tea.

It was such a wonderful day with your family, Sébastien . We hope to see you again for more local, unforgettable adventures together!

Munch munch munch! Sébastien and Anaïs are feeding little Salomé “bún riêu cua” - river crab noodle soup. Just looking at her happy face, we know she loves it!

There’s nothing like munching on some “Bánh gối” - fried pillow dumplings - crispy on the outside, savory and comforting on the inside while wandering around Hanoi’s streets.

Our next stop is “bánh cuốn” - steamed rolled rice pancakes. Sébastien had a chance to make it his own dish. Let’s see if he can nail this!

It may look simple, but it takes real skills. Sébastien is being extra careful here, with the guidance of Mrs. Thu - our friendly owner!

And tadaa! With a little help from Auntie Thu, Sébastien nailed it and made his very own plate of rice rolls. Bravo, chef!

Wish you could smell the aroma of grilled pork filled the air - smoky, flavourful, and irresistible. One bite and everyone was hooked!

And for dessert? Definitely some “chè” within the timeworn brick walls, wooden beams and bamboo chair of ancient Hanoi house! Nathan is enjoying his refreshing bowl of “khúc bạch” sweet soup.

Little Salome’s is being taken care by Chihara - our passionate and friendly companion. They had so much fun playing and even taking selfies together!

We ended the day at a cozy coffee shop, enjoying refreshing drinks together, plus a playful round of Vietnamese traditional game “Ô ăn quan.” Would you like to play it too?
