Sweet smiles and savory bites with Ava's family💖

Hanoi, June 27th, 2025

We were so happy to welcome Ava’s lovely family on their very first trip to Vietnam – especially little Harriet (not even three years old yet!) came along with her big appetite and big smile. Having tried lots of “phở” back home in New Zealand, our family were curious to see what other flavors Hanoi had to offer. And oh, what a discovery it turned out to be!

✨The food journey was full of delights – from sweet Vietnamese donuts “bánh rán” that crunched with every bite, to delicate steamed rolled rice pancakes - “bánh cuốn” or smoky pork skewer “thịt xiên” hot off the grill. When it came to “bún dọc mùng”, everyone was surprised at how different it was from the familiar “phở”, lighter, tangier, with a broth that stole their hearts. And as true sweet-tooths, Ava’s family couldn’t resist diving into Hanoi’s sweet soup “chè”, a diversity of textures and flavors in one bowl, and they absolutely loved it!

🥰One of the most adorable moment was watching Harriet happily nibble on every dish, wide-eyed and curious about each new taste. She was a little foodie with such big joy and cuteness, winning hearts at every stop. It’s not every day you see a toddler so excited about “bánh cuốn” and “chè”!

What touched us most was how our family didn’t just enjoy the food, they wanted to hear the stories behind every stop, every dish. For them, Hanoi wasn’t just about tasting, but about connecting: with culture, with people, and with each other. 🌸

💛 Thank you, Ava’s lovely family, for bringing so much joy, curiosity, and sweetness to our Taste of Hanoi tour. We can’t wait to welcome you back for more flavors, more stories, and maybe even more bowls of chè for little Harriet!
