A Rainy-Day Hanoi Family Tour Filled With Laughter and a Sweet Birthday Surprise

Hanoi, Sep 29th, 2025

Rain, laughter, perfect surprise in Hanoi!

🌧️ Although it was a bit rainy, Kimberley’s Austrilian family of four kept the adventure rolling, exploring and soaking in the city’s charm with the biggest smiles. (And trust us… the surprise at the end is worth it! 😉)

No trip in Hanoi is complete without food! Our Aussie crew tried some lesser-known dishes of Hanoi and loved them all. Of all the dishes, our kids instantly crowned “bánh rán” - Vietnamese donuts as their ultimate star of the day, each even finished 2 in a row!

The energy was contagious, especially during our fun craft moments. When we arrived at the wooden stamp shop of Mr. Toàn - our local artisan with over 30 years of experience - Leo and Lily immediately swarmed the stool to watch him carve the stamps and pick their own favorite. Our kids loved the stamps so much that they claimed the keepsakes meant for their parents! 😂

The highlight (and our little secret) was our final stop. While everyone was passionately painting their bamboo dragonflies, 3, 2, 1… Surprise! “Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you!”. Lily was delighted, her eyes lit up with joy the moment she saw Linh bring out the cake! Before the tour, we had prepared the surprise, making sure the cake was in her exact favorite flavor and color, all chosen with so much love and care. It was a perfect, emotional end to an already fantastic day.

Kimberley’s lovely family reminded us that the best adventures aren't stopped by a little rain; they're enhanced by it. Every laugh, every delicious bite, and every small surprise was a perfect ingredient for their Hanoi story.

Let’s join us on a special Hanoi adventure with Kimberley’s family of 4 - our Aussies crew that turned a rainy day into pure magic.

We started the day having breakfast like locals: eating sticky rice “xôi”. Not just tasting food, we also share our traditions to everyone. Here, our boy is arranging chopsticks for his dad, an act of love and respect at Vietnamese meals.

At the wooden stamp shop, our kids were so happy to pick their own stamps. The best part? Having their names hand-carved on it! The perfect souvenir to take home.

Standing under the awning, totally unfazed by the rain, our family kept nodding and saying, "So delicious!", each even had 2 “bánh rán” - Vietnamese donuts!

The next stop was Kim Ngan Temple, our family took a moment to slow down and admire the beauty, the calmness of the temple.

"Ah, so this is how they handle the rain!" - Cruising the Old Quarter tucked cozy under the canvas while the city got a good wash - What a unique experience!

This probably the part that our kids were most excited about: Painting bamboo dragonflies! Leo and Lily couldn’t wait, they dove right in, painting like little artists.

Look at our little girl! She’s having so much fun playing and balancing all of the dragonflies. 100% focus!

Even dad joined in! No one can resist the art of balancing dragonflies.

3, 2, 1, surprise! This is the secret we’ve been waiting for! Happy birthday to Lily, our adorable girl!

The chocolate flavor and vibrant color were her absolute favorites. We’re really glad that we made her day more special. A perfect end to a fantastic day!

Every family quest is a unique story waiting to be told. Ready to find your family’s favorite Hanoi spot? Message us! We’ll save you a roll and a smile. 🌟
