Meet Jennifer and Murray from Canada who have visited Vietnam 4 times, and are coming back this year to celebrate Tet with their local friend. Vietnam holds a special place in their hearts with so many memories and stories, and today, our Taste of Hanoi with Casey became one of them.
Although they had tried famous dishes like “phở” and “bánh mì” before, many of the local foods today were completely new to them. Casey walked them through Hanoi's narrow streets, sharing stories behind each dish, the culture and daily life of locals, not just information about the food. “Nộm” – Vietnamese green papaya salad quickly became a shared favorite for its fresh, light flavors. Jennifer especially loved “bún dọc mùng” for the gentle broth and tender meatballs, while he couldn’t stop praising “bánh khúc” – sticky rice dumpling with mung bean and pork.
But what made the evening truly memorable were the joyful conversations and little moments in between. Sitting at the cozy “chè” shop, admiring its old charm, we shared travel stories, cultural curiosities, and plenty of jokes. At one point, hearing the shop started in the 2000s, Jennifer laughed: “Wait… not 2000 years ago?”. It didn’t feel like a tour anymore, but a joyful hang out with a local friend.
Let’s join us on this warm and fun Taste of Hanoi journey. 💛
