What made Nicola and Karen’s group from the Netherlands and Canada choose to join our Taste of Hanoi wasn’t just the food, but the fun photos that show the way we connect people - with the guide, street vendors, and the everyday rhythm of Hanoi.
We had a great time wandering through Hanoi’s streets, discovering hidden gems, trying lesser-known dishes and listening to the stories behind each dish from Cihara. “Bún riêu” - river crab noodle soup was an instant favorite. Light, flavorful and full of herbs, it was exactly the kind of Vietnamese taste they loved: gentle and easy to enjoy. “Bánh cuốn” - steamed rolled rice pancakes and “chè” - Vietnamese sweet soup also won everyone over. The name “sweet soup” sounded a bit surprising at first, but one spoonful later and it became a big yes.
Not just eating, our friends truly lived the local experience and connected with the life here. Each story about the dishes, the places, and the people told by Cihara left a big impression on them. “Xin chào”, “cảm ơn”, “ngon quá”,… - they learnt and proudly used the phrases at every stop. Each time they spoke, the vendors lit up and complimented their pronunciation. Those small interactions, the greetings, the thank-yous, the laughter, made the streets of Hanoi feel incredibly close and lively.
